Outside The Oasis

Summary:

Mason's earliest memories originate in Solar Oasis, the city considered heaven compared to the rest of post-apocalyptic America. This cutting-edge, futuristic city has given him food, shelter, and a level of luxury that is foreign to most citizens in the country. However, Mason has dreamed about owning a Chevrolet Camaro, but when the opportunity to get his dream car appears, he is willing to risk it all—even the safety of the city walls.

Author Notes:

As I wrote this story I also found myself soul searching. I started the book believing that the protagonist Mason was my fictional son.

My father owned a ‘67 Camaro growing up, though he had to sell it when I was young. This spurred my love of the car and it was my dream car for a long time. In the book, Mason’s love of the car was supposed to be a continuation of my love of the car, but I knew as an author that Mason only loved the car because it reminded him of his childhood and that’s when it clicked for me.

Mason wasn’t my fictional son, but instead, Mason was me.
